Mercy To Host Free Heart Attack Education Program
Community Event Will Feature Mercy Heart, Emergency Physicians

Canton, Ohio: The Mercy Heart Center will present a free community education event – "If It's a Heart Attack, It's Time to Act" – on Wed., May 7 at 7 p.m. at Rivertree Christian Church, 7373 Portage Rd., N.W., in Massillon.

Ahmed A. El Ghamry Sabe, M.D., director of the Mercy Heart Center and co-director of the Mercy Emergency Chest Pain Center (ECPC), will discuss acute coronary syndrome and its diagnosis and treatment. Frank Kaeberlein, M.D., director of Mercy Emergency Services and co-director of the Mercy ECPC, will talk about early heart attack care, acute coronary syndrome and typical and atypical symptoms.

According to the American Heart Association, coronary heart disease (CHD) is the single leading cause of death in America. CHD, which causes heart attack and angina, resulted in more than 450,000 deaths (or one of every five deaths) in the United States in 2004. There are about 1,200,000 new and recurrent coronary attacks per year.
