Volunteers Needed For Mercy Hospice
volunteers can give support and friendship to patients, families and provide clerical assistance to office staff

Canton, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center Hospice is seeking volunteers to give support and friendship to patients and families and to provide clerical assistance to the office staff.

According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), more than 1.2 million individuals received hospice services in the U.S. in 2005. A different approach to end-of-life health care, hospice focuses on keeping patients comfortable, functional, alert and as pain-free as possible.

Caring for the terminally ill requires a multi-disciplinary team that includes volunteers.  Approximately 96,000 volunteers work at hospices throughout the United States, according to the Hospice Foundation of America. Mercy Hospice is seeking dedicated volunteers to provide respite for caregivers and companionship for patients throughout Stark County.

To learn more about being a hospice volunteer, call Mercy Hospice at (330)-649-4380.
